Welcome to Department of Arts, Language and Humanities , The University of the Gambia was established by an Act of the National Assembly of the Gambia in March 1999. The vision of the University of the Gambia is to become a regional and international academic excellence. Its objective is to provide equal opportunities for degree studies in the Gambia in the areas of health, agriculture, economics and management, physical and natural sciences, Humanities, Languages and Social Sciences. To realize this aim, four faculties were Initailly established: a) Faculty of Science Agriculture, b) Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, c) Faculty of Economics and Management, and d) Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

After four years of slow reasonable success progress, the University authorities deemed it fit to embark upon on some structural changes to accelerate the pace of success of UTG, by making the flow of information more transparent and by allowing more participation of its academic as well as its administrative staff.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Five WASSCE/GCE passes at credit level including English and Mathematics in not more than 2 sittings. For the Arts, Languages & Humanities Department, a credit level pass in Chemistry or Physics or Biology or Agricultural Science may be accepted in lieu of credit in Mathematics. (For the Arabic Language, modalities for admission are being worked out).
