Welcome to Department of Nursing, Reproductive and Child Health, founded this year as part of reforms of the Strategic Management Structure of the University of the Gambia , became the first educational entity in the Gambia to prepare nurses under a university structure. The Department seeks to offer programmes that reflect current practices and policies in nursing, community health, and reproductive and child health. The Department is committed to creating a most friendly and energetic atmosphere for professional and intellectual development that will help attract highly motivated and intelligent nurses from the Gambia and abroad.

PROGRAMMES CURRENTLY OFFERED

  1. B.Sc. in Nursing

  2. Advanced Diploma in Community Nursing (starting in the academic year 2006/2007)

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To be admitted to the B.Sc. Degree in Nursing, candidates must have satisfied the prescribed minimum conditions of the University for admission to the degree programme. In addition they should possess the GCE O'Level/WASSCE, with credit in five subjects, including English and at least two Science subjects, i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. The requirements for admission to the Advanced Diploma in Community Nursing programme are the GCE O'Level certificate, SRN and SCM certificates, and a satisfactory recommendation letter form the candidate's employer.
